May 9-11
A three-day weekend of dancing in jersey

The weekend has arrived!

What is Liberation Day?

Jersey was occupied by German forces during WW2. After 5 long years the island was liberated by the British on 9 May 1945. This is celebrated each year as our national holiday: Liberation Day.  The States of Jersey organise a commemoration service and festivities including live bands, performances and dancing in the centre of St Helier.
2025 is the 80th anniversary of the liberation, so Lindy Hop Jersey is making a special effort to have a three day weekend of dancing, and we’d love you to come and join the party!

For flights, please see

Accomodation
The events on Friday and Saturday will be in St Helier, which would be the most convenient place for you to stay.

Best Western Royal Hotel is the venue for the Saturday night dance.   We have secured a discounted rate for dancers that weekend of £169.15, for a double or a twin room (i.e. £85 per person), including breakfast.  Please speak to the manager, Mariusz Cieminski, to receive this rate ( [email protected] )
There are two Premier Inns in St Helier, both are close to both the Friday and Saturday night venues:
Premier Inn, Bath Street.  Premier Inn, Charing Cross
The Royal Yacht is more expensive, but it is right next to Liberation Square, where everything happens on Friday.
There are other options available, we know one person at least has already booked an Air B&B in St Helier for the weekend.

For a more picturesque location you could consider hotels in St Aubins or on St Brelade's beach, but these are further away.

If you would like to be hosted by a local dancer we have a limited number of places we can offer .  Please email us to be put on the list.
