Korantema Anyimadu

Korantema Anyimadu is a dancer from London and fell in love with African American Vernacular Jazz in 2015. She has tapped for Zadie Smith and performed at the 2012 London Olympics. Korantema was the former co-leader of the chorus line troupe, The London Starlings (formerly known as The Dinahs). More recently, Korantema began an apprenticeship with Angela Andrew and has taught at festivals including 2023's Hamburg Jazz Fest. When she's not dancing, Korantema is a museum curator and runs an award winning creative project called Black Hair Stories. www.korantema.com/dance |

Stephen Atemie
Stephen is widely recognised in London for his infectious smile, laugh, and the energy he brings to any class! Stephen began an apprenticeship with Angela Andrews in 2018 to delve deeper into the roots of jazz dance, and with Ron Leslie to further explore Lindy Hop, and himself has a wealth of knowledge to share with us!

He is a board member of Collective Voices For Change, and advocate for cultural and racial equity within the Lindy Hop and Jazz scene. Stephen is also a recent recipient of the Frankie Manning Foundation Scholarship Grant.
Stephen's performance/competition credits include 10 Downing Street, Harrods, Savoy Cup (France), ILHC (USA), Rock That Swing (Germany).

Saturday, Feb 3
Venue: St Saviour's Parish Hall
NB. exact timings may change depending on teacher's travel arrangements
Workshop: 10 - 11.30
Tea and biscuit break: 11.30 - 12.00
Workshop: 12.00 - 1.30
Lunch Break: 1.30 - 2.30
Workshop: 2.30 - 4.00
These workshops will be less about teaching fancy steps and moves, but will focus more on the real heart of Lindy Hop: playing with your partner on the dance floor. We will be exploring connection, experimenting with rhythms, and looking at how to share ideas with your partner and improvise to the music.
Evening: pub meal at La Hocq Inn (not included in the event price),
with a dance in their upstairs function room afterwards.
Sunday, Feb 4
Venue: St Lawrence Parish Hall
Performance class: 11.00 - 1:00
Make your dancing zing! Not everyone wants to get up on stage, but most people want to know how to look good. This session will focus on body awareness and movement training to help you shine!
You do not have to be super experienced to take this class but please note, it is not aimed at complete beginners.
lunch break 1:00 - 2:00
Tea dance 2:00-4:00
Wrap up the weekend with a final dance at St Lawrence Parish Hall.
Go crazy under the influence of tea, cake and exhaustion!
